Make Your Own Pacifier Clip
There are a few things that no young family can do without – and the pacifier undoubtedly belongs on that list. If it goes missing, all hell breaks loose in the family paradise ;)
A pacifier clip prevents endless searches for a beloved pacifier and is an essential part of every baby's equipment. A pacifier clip made from colourful wooden beads is not only practical and beautiful, but thanks to its texture it also has a calming effect on babies and is great for their first play experiences.
When more and more babies were born among my friends, I discovered the wonderful inspiration for making pacifier clips online. Since then, I have found it to be a lovely and personal gift idea that is quick and easy to make. And now I'll show you how it's done.
Pacifier Clip Instructions: Step by Step
A handmade pacifier clip is a wonderful gift for new parents. It becomes even more special when personalised with letter beads spelling the baby's name. That way, it becomes a unique keepsake that will accompany the little one for a long time. As with every recipe, let's start with the list of ingredients. Here's what you'll need:
- A pacifier clip (to attach to clothing)
- Beautiful wooden or silicone beads
- Letter beads for the baby's name
- A sturdy cord for threading the beads
- Optional decorative sound elements (small bells)
Safety First
All kinds of colours and shapes can be used when choosing beads. Let your imagination run wild. But be careful: not every bead, cord or clip is suitable for a pacifier clip! Make sure that all materials are saliva-resistant, free from harmful substances and meet all necessary safety requirements.
You should also pay close attention to the length. Due to the risk of strangulation, a pacifier clip must not be longer than 22 cm! This is measured from the clip to the end of the cord. Please measure it as shown here:

Let's Get Started: Lay Everything Out
Once you have gathered all your beads, bells and letter beads, it is best to arrange them on the table in the order you want the finished pacifier clip to look. This helps avoid mistakes and makes threading much easier afterwards.
Important: The (sturdy!) cord must first be tied securely to the clip. And we really mean securely! We certainly don't want the clip to come apart and individual beads to become a choking hazard. Once that is done, you can begin threading the beads.
A Clever Loop at the End
Once all the beads have been threaded, the other end must also be tied very securely. At the end of the pacifier clip, create a loop to which the pacifier can be attached. And of course, this loop must also be extremely secure so that nothing comes loose. So take your time and work carefully here!
Your Handmade Pacifier Clip Is Ready – A Unique Gift
And just like that, your handmade pacifier clip is finished, and you have a truly unique gift to give.
Have fun making your pacifier clip and, of course, giving it as a gift :) And if you ever don't have the time or desire to make one yourself, you'll find a wide selection of personalised pacifier clips here.
