Some people have a special talent when it comes to gift wrapping. Their presents look like little works of art. Others have less flair for it. Whether it is talent or not, having the right materials at home certainly has a big influence on the magic of gift wrapping.

We will show you how to wrap gifts beautifully with little effort and without needing any special talent.

Wrapping materials

You do not need a cupboard full of wrapping supplies, because with a few basic items you can create small but beautiful masterpieces. These essentials should always be within reach:

Simple wrapping paper, preferably in solid colours. One, two or three colours are enough. Choose paper that works for everyone and every occasion rather than something seasonal, age-specific or gender-specific. Pick colours you like. Versatile options include blue, green or yellow in various shades. And of course, neutral kraft paper is a true all-rounder. In general, matte paper is more practical than glossy coated paper.

Simple stamps: Stamps can be expensive, that's true, but they are worth the investment. They are simple yet highly effective. Choose a design that works for men, women, children and grandparents alike. Impossible? Not at all. Stars, animal paw prints, wreaths, leaves or your favourite animal are all great examples. If you are a little crafty, you can even make your own stamps from craft foam.

Washi tape: Washi what? These are colourful paper adhesive tapes that can now be found in almost every stationery shop. Slightly transparent and available in countless colours and patterns, they are also known as masking tape or decorative tape.

Simple wrapping string: Ideally, it should match your plain wrapping paper.

Gift wrapping ideas

And here are a few simple yet effective ideas:

Kraft paper decorations: Kraft paper or matte wrapping paper is perfect for embellishments. For example, you can:

Write on it: Cover the paper with speech bubbles or clouds filled with different congratulations and good wishes. This way, you can even skip the greeting card.

Draw on it: Create a large animal face (elephant, cat, rabbit) on the package. To make the gift appear even more lively, you can add 3D elements. For example, attach a balloon as an elephant's trunk or add extra ears to a rabbit.

Decorate it: Use washi tape to decorate the gift. For example, you can make small garlands by attaching string to both ends of the package, wrapping washi tape around it for each flag, and cutting a triangle shape into each one.

Print on it: Fingerprint art. In addition to the basic materials, you will need watercolours. Fingerprints can be used to create adorable designs such as balloons or birds sitting in a tree. It is very easy and looks fantastic!

Photo paper instead of wrapping paper: Children especially love photos, and since they are no longer used to seeing printed photographs, wrapping a gift in photo paper is guaranteed to attract attention and bring joy. Depending on the size of the gift, you can print the photo at home or order it through Ifolor.
